The Other Other Side

pac

I was on my way to watch the sunset
When my friend told me The Bastard Pac had died
I saw him wrestle yesterday
He seemed just fine
This was the first match I had seen of his where I really felt him, understood him
A dedicated mass of violence, death on legs
and now, gone
I sit atop a fencepost
The yellow of the sun is gone
A soft orange glow to the west
lighting clouds on fire
East, a soft pink haze
Communes with the sky blue
As ended the sunrise, as ended the day
As ended the shadows of the trees on the mountains cast by the sun at evening
so, too, will this sunset end
The orange burns out
The pink dissipates into the blue, and soon
All surrenders to the black of night
A man died today, a man I did not love or know well
But a man I had seen come alive
