Read this post recently. I can't find the original post they were responding to, it seems to have been deleted. If mgx was misrepresenting the post, then I've got no way of knowing it.
The idea that bearblog is an echo chamber cracks me up. It's just... not true??? Sure, you don't see WhiteAryan88 blogging about race realism and reaching the top 20 of trending, but a) that's a good thing, and b) there are still plenty of people with opposing views on here. There are plenty of blogs that talk about AI solutions to this and that, and just as many talking about how much they hate the current AI fad.
There's also no real mechanism for social punishment on here. There's no ratioing, or QRT dunking, or downvoting. You don't have to open yourself up to feedback from your audience, and plenty of good blogs don't. The worst you can expect is either you get ignored, or a bunch of people write civil replies about how they disagree with you, like the OP of the post mgx was talking about. In the first case, get over it. I get like 2 hits a post, and that hasn't stopped me yet. In the 2nd case, also get over it. People don't have to agree with you, you're not entitled to a bunch of bluecheck GPT bots in your replies jacking you off.
I guess there aren't that many conservative blogs on here, but there aren't that many political blogs on here in general. Where politics does crop up, it's usually someone who blogs about other things expressing their political views. Those views do tend towards being either liberal or left, but that's probably just down to demographics. Bearblog skews towards folks in their 20's or 30's, who tend to be less conservative than older folks. Most of the weirdo techno-fascist neo-reactionary types gravitate towards substack or their own websites, since they can monetize on those platforms, and they already have a pretty solid foothold.
I dunno, I guess it feels a bit silly to complain about an echo chamber on this site. If you've got something controversial to write, then just write it, and cut the hand-wringing about how you don't get a lollipop for your super special, unique views.
